Through the generous donations of Virginia Moody, Super Duper Publications, and Illinois Autism/PDD Training and Technical Assistance Project (IATTAP), the Autism Spectrum Institute Lending Library has acquired over 1,000 resource items. The resources available include textbooks, resource guides, therapy materials, toys, and video and audio tapes. Book topics range from how to write an individualized education program (IEP) for a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to writing social stories. Resource guides include Hodgdon's visual strategies for communication and behavior. Therapy materials are primarily speech and language and are geared toward vocabulary and conceptual development. Video and audio tapes range from the basics about ASD to pharmacological issues. The T.R.A.I.N. family resource booklet for central Illinois, developed by Jacquie Mace, is available at the library along with information on any upcoming conferences in this area.
Materials may be checked out by anyone by completing an information card. Check out time is two weeks, however, materials may be renewed by phone. If you would like to browse the books, please call (309) 438-5291 or for assistance. The library is located at DeGarmo 517.
